Obtaining an Australian visa that allows you to work is not that easy, unless you apply for the Student or Working Holiday visas: they allow you to study and work with little processes involved.

Job opportunities in Australia are excellent. Australia enjoys a low unemployment rate, well below Europe's. It's a dynamic country enjoying constant economical growth, thanks to strong investment from Asia.

The other advantage is that Australia has a number of small and medium companies, which allows a certain job flexibility. Employees are often paid weekly or fortnightly.

You can choose from a certain range of Australian working visas. For further details, consult the DIAC official website (Australian Department of Immigration).

We have summed up below your working visa options possible in Australia.

You can be sponsored by an Australian company to work in Australia on a temporary basis (Visa 457) or on a permanent basis (ENS).

The issue is to define if you have the profile to be sponsored and if the company willing to employ you has the profile and financial capacity.

You are faced with 2 possibilities:

- If an Australian company is willing to sponsor you, then the procedures will be simpler. We recommend you use a migration agent. We have selected a reputable migration agency experienced in business sponsorship. A fee is charged for your first consultation. Please contact us at executive@boomerangaustralia.com explaining your situation and we will put you in contact with our expert.

- If you have not found a sponsor, we have no solution to offer you, as yet!

If you are planning to migrate to Australia, you have to apply for permanent residence : it's a complex process and you have different options.

Find below a list of the most popular permanent visas options:

- The Spouse Visa: if you are in Australia and can prove you have lived over 12 months with your de facto spouse who is either an Australian resident or an Australian citizen, or if you have married an Australian resident or an Australian citizen, you can apply for this visa in Australia and receive a relatively quick answer ; if you apply from overseas, it may take longer. Be aware that this visa is a temporary visa that will become permanent if you can prove that you are still in a genuine relationship 2 years later.

- The Skills Migration Visa: it is based on a point system whose criteria depend on your age, family history, professional experience and level of English. There have been some changes from 1 September 2007 that favour applicants with a high level of English.

- Family Reunion Visa: if more than 50% of the children are resident or citizen of Australia and if the parents are in good health, parents can apply for a Family Reunion visa.

- Business Owners or Investors Visa: you can apply for this visa if you intend to create a company in Australia or invest a significant amount of money in an Australian company or development projects...

Conditions are complex and keep changing regularly. Your best option is to contact our Immigration expert based in Sydney, who enjoys a good reputation. If you are interested, contact us and send us as much information as possible about you.
